MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team completed its tri-meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center. The Hawkeyes fell to Minnesota, 299-41, and Northwestern, 295-42.
Junior Kennedy Gilbertson posted two more season-bests, upping her times in the 50 free as the lead leg of the 200-free relay (23.38) and 200 back (2:01.81). She finished the weekend with three season-best times.
Additional season-bests included juniors Anna Pfeiffer (2:05.18) and Zoe Pawloski (2:08.45) in the 200 back. Junior Ariel Wooden accomplished her second season-best of the weekend with 53.75 in the 100-free.
Diving competed in an exhibition platform event on Saturday. Sophomore Claire Hartley scored what would be an NCAA Zone qualifying standard, finishing with a 249.85. Senior Sam Tamborski also scored a season-best 220.35.
The tri-meet concluded with the 400-free relay, where Iowa’s quartet of Gilbertson, sophomore Maddie Black, junior Payton Lange, and junior Aleksandra Olesiak swam the team’s fastest time of the relay on the year at 3:31.75.
Iowa will return to action on Feb. 16, beginning competition at the Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.
