Hawkeyes Open Play in Arizona

PEORIA, Ariz. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in 14th place (+24) after two rounds of the Westbrook Invitational. The Hawkeyes fired rounds of 297 (+9) and 303 (+15) on Sunday at Westbrook Village Golf Club.

The Hawkeyes were led by freshman Paula Miranda, who fired an even par 144. The Mexico native opened the day with a 1-under par 71 before shooting a one-over par 73. Miranda had eight birdies during the day, and she is tied for 22nd. The two rounds are her best of the spring season.

Senior Manuela Lizarazu sits in a tie for 52nd after shooting a five-over par 149. She opened the day with a one-over 73 before sitting at four-over during her final 18 holes. Lizarazu had four birdies and 23 pars through two rounds.

Junior Morgan Goldstein and junior Lea Zeitler closed out the scoring quartet by finishing tied for 63rd and tied for 79th after through 36 holes. Goldstein shot rounds of 78 (+6) and 73 (+1) with five birdies, while Zeitler finished her two rounds with a 75 (+3) and 81 (+9). Zeitler had two birdies and 21 pars.
