IOWA CITY, Iowa- The University of Iowa women’s tennis team hosts No. 48 Memphis on Friday at 4 p.m. (CT) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Admission is free. Iowa enters the match with a 4-5 record. Freshman Barbora Pokorna leads the Hawkeyes with a 5-2 record in singles and doubles, respectively.
The Tigers are 12-4 with a 4-3 road record. Memphis is on a five-game winning streak that includes a win against No. 19 Tulsa.
Iowa has an overall record of 1-1 against the Tigers. This is Iowa’s first matchup with Memphis since 2014 and first under head coach Sasha Schmid.
“We are looking forward to having a great Memphis team come to town,” said Schmid. “They are having a great season. I expect another competitive match and another opportunity for our team to get better and be tested. We have had a tough stretch but I am proud of the resiliency we have shown in practice and I’m excited to see our team return to the court and compete.”
