EVANSTON, Illinois — The University of Iowa softball team fell to No. 8 Northwestern, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
Senior Breanna Vasquez got the start in the circle throwing the complete game while striking out three.
Junior Kalena Burns was 2-for-2 improving her on base percentage for the series to .857.
Five different Hawkeyes drew walks in the contest, but Iowa left eight runners stranded on base.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwestern (37-7, 17-2) scored two runs in the first inning with a pair of doubles and a single. The Wildcats added a run in the fifth with a walk, stolen base, and an error. The home team scored its final run on a solo home run down the right field line.
