McKiver, Kenlin Named April’s Student-Athletes of the Month

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa student-athletes Jenoah McKiver (track & field) and Adeline Kenlin (women’s gymnastics) were named April’s Student-Athletes of the Month. The University of Iowa Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) made the announcement Friday.

McKiver ran an NCAA-leading 400-meter time of 44.74 at the Jim Click Shootout on April 9. He set the school record to become the undisputed fastest quarter-miler in Iowa history, now owning both the indoor and outdoor 400-meter records. At the time, it was the No. 2 time in the world for 2022.

The High Point, North Carolina, native doubled back and anchored the 4×400-meter relay (3:02.39) with a 43.8-second split. That relay time is third-fastest in program history. The sophomore was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week and USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Week for his performance.

Kenlin advanced to the NCAA Championships on balance beam, becoming the first Hawkeye since 2017 to qualify to the NCAA Championships. She finished as the NCAA runner-up on the event, competing as an individual, after scoring a 9.950 – finishing runner-up to Olympic Gold Medalist Suni Lee. It was the best finish ever for a Hawkeye, becoming just the sixth gymnast in program history to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Championships.

The Iowa City, Iowa, native led the program to its first NCAA Regional Final appearance since 2004, where the Hawkeyes finished with a 197.075 – the second-best score in program history.
