HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Freshman Shannyn Vogler’s one-under par 71 highlighted the University of Iowa women’s golf team’s first round at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Friday at the University of Denver Golf Club.
Vogler started the day with a birdie on her first hole then tallied two birdies over the next eight holes to finish with a career low round. The Moline, Illinois, native is tied for 12th place heading into round two Saturday.
As a team, the Hawkeyes sit tied for 13th place overall after shooting a 302 on Friday. Iowa currently sits three strokes out of 11th place.
Freshman Madison Dabagia is the next highest Hawkeye on the leaderboard as she is currently tied for 53rd with a four-over par 76. Dabagia had two birdies during Friday’s round.
Vanderbilt leads the field with an eight-under par 280. New Mexico has the top-two individual leaders in Napat Lertsadwattana and Lauren Lehigh who shot a 65 (-7) and a 67 (-5) respectively.
