Haack Earns B1G Field Athlete of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa –University of Iowa track and field junior Peyton Haack was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. The weekly honor is the first of Haack’s career.

Haack, a Westfield, Indiana native eclipsed the 6,000-point mark on his way to a runner-up finish in the heptathlon at the Razorback Invitational. Haack’s total of 6,007 points broke the school record and ranks third in the country in the event this season. He used four personal bests to break the record, including the long jump (7.17 meters; 23’ 6.25”), shot put (14.04 meters; 46’ .75”), high jump, and pole vault. Haack won the high jump title with a lifetime best leap of 2.04 meters (6’ 8.25”) and tied for the pole vault crown with another best of 5 meters (16’ 4.75”).

This is Iowa’s first Big Ten field honor since April 20, 2020, when teammate Austin West earned the award.

The Hawkeyes return to action this Friday and Saturday, competing at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
