SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team tied for eighth place on Tuesday at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island. Two Hawkeyes, senior Mac McClear and freshman Hogan Hansen, posted top-25 finishes on the leaderboard at the Seaside Course.
McClear tied for 22nd shooting 214 (+4) for the week. He led Iowa with a Hawkeye-best eight birdies through 54 holes.
Hansen shot the low Iowa round on Tuesday, wrapping up play with a 72 (+2).
Senior Ronan Kleu and sophomore Ian Meyer tied for 35th, finishing 218 (+8) at the tournament.
Iowa shot 864 (+24) as a team, placing ahead of No. 50 Michigan State as well as conference foes, Penn State and Minnesota.
No. 25 Kansas State took home the team title shooting 839 (-1). No. 37 Ohio State was the top Big Ten finisher, tying for second with an 846 (+6) team total.
