IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team defeated St. Thomas on Wednesday afternoon, 10-1, at Duane Banks Field.
The Hawkeyes were led by Sam Petersen who went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs. He was joined by Raider Tello and Brennen Dorighi as the Hawkeyes with multi-hit games. Tello tallied two RBIs and Dorighi had one.
Keaton Anthony got the start in a game that saw the Hawkeyes use seven pitchers by design. He earned the win throwing three innings allowing one hit and striking out two. The Iowa pitching staff combined to allow only four hits and one unearned run while striking out 11 Tommie batters.
The Hawkeyes scored one run each inning from the third through the sixth before a six run eighth put the game on ice.
Iowa stole eight bases compared to one stolen bag for St. Thomas and the Hawkeyes were hit by six pitches.

Due to anticipated weather the Hawkeyes will now face South Dakota State on Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) in Parkville, Missouri at the Creekside Baseball Complex. Iowa will return home for a doubleheader against SDSU beginning at noon on Sunday.
