Hawkeyes Host Illinois State Tuesday

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes Illinois State to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday for a midweek matchup at 6:05 p.m. (CT). Admission is $2.

The Hawkeyes come into the contest with a 31-11 record, while Illinois State is 17-23. The Redbirds won the first meeting this season, 5-3, in Normal, Illinois.

As a team, Illinois State is hitting .272 and its pitching staff has a 7.24 ERA. They are led by Luke Lawrance with a .305 batting average, and Auggie Rasmussen with 31 RBIs.

Last week, the Hawkeyes defeated Upper Iowa before splitting a doubleheader with Penn State. Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .293 as a team, while averaging 8.28 runs per game. The Iowa pitching staff has a 4.27 ERA.

Keaton Anthony leads the team with a .396 batting average. Sam Hojnar and Brennen Dorighi lead the team with 40 RBIs followed by Kyle Huckstorf with 39.

Anthony leads the team with nine home runs and Sam Petersen has 12 stolen bases. Anthony ranks second in the country with 22 doubles and third in doubles per game (0.52).
