EVANSTON, Illinois – The University of Iowa baseball team defeated Northwestern, 15-3, on Thursday evening at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park.
The Hawkeyes put up ten runs in the first four innings. Iowa added five runs in the seventh. The Hawkeyes outhit the Wildcats, 14-3.
Marcus Morgan got the start for Iowa. He threw four innings and struck out five while allowing three hits and no runs. Cade Obermueller threw 2 1/3 innings striking out four and getting credit for the win. Nick Gottilla and Jack Young closed out the game throwing the remaining 2 1/3 innings.
“The guys played a great game today,” said Rick Heller. “Marcus Morgan gave us a great start with four shut down innings in a row. Obermueller, Gottilla and Young did a nice job finishing out.”
Four hitters for Iowa tallied multiple hits in the contest. Raider Tello was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored, Michael Seegers was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Brayden Frazier was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Cade Moss was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Sam Hojnar and Kyle Huckstrof each added two RBIs for the Hawkeyes.
“Our offense was balanced and aggressive the entire game,” said Heller. “A nice two run, two out rally in the first setting the tone. A really nice team win with a lot of guys getting a chance to play and contribute.”

- Iowa improves to 38-12 on the season and 14-7 in Big Ten play.
- The Hawkeyes stole six bases today, their most in a Big Ten game this season.
- Iowa tallied eight two out RBIs on the day bringing their total to 153 on the season.
- The Hawkeyes have now scored 10 or more runs in 18 contests this season winning them all. They have scored 15 or more runs six times this season.
