CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team wrapped up the Charlotte Invitational on Sunday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The Hawkeyes went 3-1 on the day.
In singles competition, the Hawkeyes went 2-1 against Kansas State. Daianne Hayashida started off the day with a victory against Maria Santos in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Pia Kranholdt followed, falling to Tereza Polakova, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, but Barbora Pokorna finished singles play, notching a straight-set win against Jillian Harkin, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
In doubles play, Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt defeated Tereza Polakova and Aleen Quamar of Kansas State, 6-2.
The Hawkeyes finished the weekend with a split record of 10-10 overall, 6-9 in singles and 4-1 in doubles.
