AMES, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team shutout Iowa State, 3 -0, on Saturday afternoon at the Cyclone Softball Complex in a nine-inning exhibition.
Sophomore Jalen Adams went the distance in the circle throwing a complete game. She allowed seven hits and struck out five Cyclone hitters. She retired Iowa State in order in five of the innings.
Iowa scored three runs on six hits and two Cyclone errors. Freshman Mya Clark was responsible for all three RBIs in the game. She drew a bases loaded hit-by-pitch in the first and had a two-RBI triple in the third inning. The Hawkeyes had a baserunner in all but two innings. Freshman Jena Young went 2-for-3 with a walk.
The Hawkeyes return to action on tomorrow, Sunday October 1 as they face Drake in the final game of the Big Four Classic. First pitch at the Cyclone Softball Complex in Ames is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
