Hawkeyes Earn No. 1 Seed, Host First Four Winner

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s basketball team will be a No. 1 Seed in the Albany Regional and will host the 2024 NCAA First and Second Rounds in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday, March 23 and Monday, March 25.

The Hawkeyes earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament three times in school history (1988, 1992, and 2024). Iowa is 2-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament as a one-seed. Iowa has hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament seven times dating back to 2013.

Iowa will take on the winner of 16-seed’s Holy Cross and UT-Martin, which will take place in Iowa City on Thursday. The Hawkeyes (29-4; 15-3) will face the winner of the play-in game on Saturday.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena will also host a first-round matchup between eighth-seeded West Virginia and ninth-seeded Princeton on Saturday. The winner of the first round games will meet on Monday. Game times and TV designation will be released at a separate time.
