BERKELEY, Calif. – Four University of Iowa women’s gymnasts, Emily Erb, Ilka Juk, Bailey Libby, and Karina Muñoz represented Iowa at the NCAA California Regional on Friday evening at the Walter A. Haas Jr. Pavilion on the campus of University of California, Berkeley.
Session I
In rotation one, Juk represented the Hawkeyes on beam. Juk delivered a flawless routine and posted a near-perfect 9.900 to start the day off for the GymHawks. This was her sixth time this season achieving a score of 9.900 or better on the event. The junior finished in sixth place in session I.
Erb performed on floor in the second rotation. The sophomore performed one of her best routines of the year and scored a 9.900, her fifth score 9.900 or better of the season. The sophomore tied for ninth on the event.
Libby debuted a new floor routine in rotation four and earned a 9.850 to wrap up session I for the Hawkeyes.
Session II
Muñoz was the lone Hawkeye to compete in session II of the California Regional. She started her night on the bars where she scored a strong 9.850. After a fall on the beam, she bounced back on floor posting a 9.775. The sophomore ended her night on the vault where she added a 9.825 to her all-around total. Muñoz ended her regional with an all-around total of 38.750.
