IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa volleyball team has signed outside hitter Dominique Phills and middle blocker Aleksandra Stojanovic to its 2024 roster, head coach Jim Barnes announced.
Phills, a native of Pearland, Texas, was a prolific attacker throughout her high school career, earning first-team all-district honors after leading the district in kills her senior year. Her district-leading hitting percentage helped Phills earn the district’s Offensive Player of the Year honor. Phills helped lead Dawson High School to a district title and regional semi-final appearance. She was named a member of the 6A post-season team as a senior. Off the court, Phills was a medical intern and a member of the NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers).
“Dominique is an important addition to our pin hitters this fall,” associate head coach Brian Yale said. “Over the past year, she has grown into a confident and efficient attacker who wants the ball in pressure situations. The exciting part is that we believe she is capable of even more. Her skill and presence as a blocker was something that jumped out at us early in the process. We are truly excited to get Dominique here and help her continue to be great in training, on the court, and in the classroom.”
