14 Hawkeyes Named WCGA Scholastic All-American

IOWA CITY, Iowa – 14 University of Iowa gymnasts were named Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-America Award recipients, it was announced Wednesday by the WCGA.

The honorees include Alex Bradford, Ella Castellanos, Avery Chambers, Olivia Dylnicki, Alexa Ebeling, Emily Erb, Alyse Karenbauer, Adeline Kenlin, Gianna Masella, Marissa Rojas, Kaia Vanney, Eva Volpe, Katelyn Wiederspahn and Allison Zuhlke.

Student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 or higher GPA during the academic year or cumulatively during their collegiate career to qualify for Scholastic All-America honors. 1,159 individuals earned Scholastic All-American status – the most ever recorded.

Vanney and Volpe, both health studies majors, were two of 296 student-athletes in the nation who held a 4.00 GPA. Masella, Rojas, Vanney and Zuhlke have all earned this honor multiple times in their Hawkeye career.
