MADISON, Wis. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team fired a final round 308 to finish with a 54-hole total of 908 (302-298-308) in the season-opening Badger Invitational. The Hawkeyes finished 10th out of 13 teams.
Three players – senior Paula Miranda, junior Adie Maki and sophomore Ximena Benites – tied for 20th place with three-round totals of 225. Maki, who was playing as an individual, shot a final round 76 en route to her 225 (75-74-76), while Miranda and Benites carded 77s.
Both players finished the week with a five-over par 77 during Tuesday’s final round.
Junior Riley Lewis carded the team’s best round of the day, carding one birdie and 13 pars en route to a three-over par 75. She tied for 50th in the field with a 234 (80-79-75).
Sophomore Maura Peters tied for 39th in her varsity debut with a 231 (77-75-79), while junior Kaitlyn Hanna finished 42nd with a 232 (76-76-80)
Delaware claimed the team title by seven shots over Sam Houston State with an 886, while Sam Houston’s Grace Jin edged South Florida’s Leonor Medeiros by a single shot, finishing with a four-under par 212.
