Hawkeyes Head to Cavalier Regional Preview

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team travels to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the Cavalier Regional Preview on Sept. 23-24. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Birdwood Golf Course (par 71, 6,335-yards) beginning Monday with a 7:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup will include: senior Paula Miranda, sophomore Ximena Benites, junior Adie Maki, sophomore Maura Peters and junior Kaitlyn Hanna.

THE FIELD
The 12-team field includes: Charlotte, Georgetown, James Madison, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State, Penn State, Richmond, Tennessee and Virginia.

THE COURSE
The Birdwood Golf Course is known as one of Virginia’s premier golf destinations and is home to pristine greens and tranquil fairways. This course was designed by PGA Professional Davis Love III and Love Golf Design. Birdwood Course was rated “Best in State,” by Golf Digest.

LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished 10th of 13 teams at the season-opening Badger Invitational on Sept. 8-10 in Madison. Iowa had three players – Paula Miranda, Adie Maki and Ximena Benites – tie for 19th place with 225s.

WELCOME TO IOWA
Nic Robinson is entering his first season as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Iowa women’s golf team. Robinson joined the Hawkeyes following three seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee. Robinson has also coached collegiatly at Charoltte and Asbury University.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Hawkeyes will host the Diane Thomason Invitational presented by Scheels on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Finkbine Golf Course. It will be the program’s first home tournament since 2018.

OF NOTE…
Senior Paula Miranda and junior Adie Maki both tied for 19th at the Badger Invitational. It was the duo’s seventh career top-20 finish.
Sophomore Maura Peters had a career-best 18-and 54-hole total at the Badger Invitational, while tying for 38th place. It was Peters’ first tournament in the Hawkeye lineup.
Sophomore Ximena Benites tied for 19th in Madison, firing a 225. The 19th-place showing was one place off her career-best finish.

The Hawkeyes will return to action on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 when they host the Diane Thomason Invitational presented by Scheels.
