Hawkeyes Complete Day 1 in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – The University of Iowa women’s golf team posted back-to-back rounds of 304 on the opening day of the Cavalier Regional Preview at Birdwood Golf Club. The Hawkeyes are tied for 10th with a 608 total.

Senior Paula Miranda had the team’s best round of the day, firing a one-over par 72 over her second 18 holes. She had 14 pars and two birdies during the round to give her a 36-hole total of 148. She is tied for 30th place.

Sophomore Maura Peters had five birdies during the morning round en route to a career-low 73. The Bettendorf, Iowa, native followed with a seven-over par 78 en route to a 152, putting her in a tie for 42nd place.

North Carolina is atop the team leaderboard with a 19-under 549, eight strokes ahead of Virginia. The Tar Heels’ Inez Ng leads a group of 14 players under par at -8 – two shots up on teammate Ing Iadpluem and Virginia’s Megan Propeck.
