IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletics Department, in a partnership with the Iowa City Downtown District and the Iowa City Area Sports Commission, will host “Hawkeyes from Downtown” on Friday, Oct. 11.
The event, which will take place near the corner of Clinton and Iowa Ave. in downtown Iowa City from 4-6 p.m. (CT), will feature the Hawkeye women’s wrestling, and men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The festivities will open with the women’s wrestling program followed by both basketball teams. The event is the unofficial kickoff to the 2024-25 seasons.
Fans will get an up-close look at the various teams as they engage with the fans and compete in head-to-head contests. The event will feature fan contests, prizes, music and an interactive Q&A.
The event is free and open to all. Parking is available in any of the downtown Iowa City parking ramps. Parking is free for the first hour with each additional hour costing $2.
