THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team will host the Diane Thomason Invitational presented by Scheels – the program’s first home tournament since 2018 – on Monday and Tuesday at Finkbine Golf Course (par 72, 6,437 yards). The 54-hole tournament will begin with 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun starts both days.

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes: senior Paula Miranda, sophomore Ximena Benites, sophomore Maura Peters, junior Kaitlyn Hanna and junior Shannyn Vogler. Juniors Adie Maki and Riley Lewis and freshman Lily Huether will be playing as individuals.
THE FIELD
The 15-team field includes: UAB, Bowling Green, Drake, Iowa, Missouri State, Montana State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, UNI, Oklahoma City, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, UTRGV, UTSA and Wisconsin.
THE COURSE
Finkbine Golf Course spreads over 200 acres of rolling Iowa terrain. Finkbine features bent grass greens, tree-lined fairways and 50+ sand traps. The course, which is operated by Troon, is owned by the Iowa Athletics Department and gets its name from W.O. Finkbine.
LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished 10th at the Cavalier Regional Preview with a 54-hole total of 921 strokes. Senior Paula Miranda was the team’s high finisher, tying for 26th with a 223.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Hawkeyes will host the Diane Thomason Invitational presented by Scheels on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Finkbine Golf Course. It will be the program’s first home tournament since 2018.
• Iowa won the tournament in 2018, finishing with a 898 total (299-299-300) – 22 shots ahead of second place North Dakota State. The Hawkeyes had five players finish in the top 10 with Shawn Rennegarbe earning medalist honors with a five-over par 221.
OF NOTE…
• Junior Shannyn Vogler will be making her season debut at the Diane Thomason Invitational, while freshman Lily Huether will be making her Hawkeye debut.
• Senior Paula Miranda and sophomore Maura Peters have had all six of their rounds count toward the team score this fall. Miranda has a team-best 74.67 scoring average over six rounds.
• Peters had a career-low score of 73 (+2) at the Cavalier Regional Preview.
• Miranda has led the team in both tournaments this fall. She has three career top 10s and seven career top 20 finishes.

The Hawkeyes will return to action Oct. 28- 29, traveling to Coral Gables, Florida, for their fall finale at the Hurricane Invitational.
