IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa Director of Track and Field Joey Woody announced the 2024-25 indoor schedule on Monday. The Hawkeyes will host four home meets this season at the Hawkeye Indoor Track Facility.
“We are very excited to once again host multiple indoor meets this season and continue to key the Larry Wieczorek Invitational as one of the best meets in the country during the month of January,” Woody said. “We will travel to select meets across the country to set our athletes up for the best possible opportunities to qualify to the NCAA Indoor Championship, which is the toughest NCAA championship to qualify for with only 16 athletes per event and 12 relays that will make it to Virginia Beach out of the 300+ division I programs.”
2024-25 Schedule Notes
- The Hawkeyes begin the season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Open in Boston, Massachusetts, on Dec. 7.
- Iowa will host four meets this season – the Jimmy Grant Alumni Invitational & Multi (Dec. 14), the Hawkeye Invitational (Jan. 18), the Larry Wieczorek Invitational & Multi (Jan. 24-25), and the Iowa Open (Feb. 21).
- The Hawkeyes will spend the majority of February on the road, with key meets at the Missouri Invitational and Meyo Invite (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), New Mexico Collegiate Classic (Feb. 7-8), Tiffin Invitational (Tiffin, Ohio), Tyson Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.), and Texas Tech Invitational (Feb. 14-15).
- The Big Ten Indoor Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, Feb. 28-March 1. The season will wrap up at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on March 14-15.
- Returning NCAA indoor qualifiers include Paige Magee in the 60 hurdles, Daniela Wamokpego in the triple jump and NCAA runner-up in the 60m dash and All-American, Kalen Walker.
