Hawkeyes Conclude Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Spartan Invitational, facing off in challenging singles matches against players from DePaul and Butler.

In singles, Jessica Matthews secured a victory, defeating Roberta Sechi from DePaul in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Barbora Pokorna battled through three sets but ultimately fell to Hannah Smith of DePaul, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Nikita Vishwase also competed in a hard-fought match against Butler’s Chase Metcalf, extending to a third set before being edged out, 7-6, 6-7, 5-7.

The Hawkeyes will continue their fall season next weekend at the ITA Sectional Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
