Iowa Hawkeyes Women’s Wrestling Announces Presenting Sponsor for Second Season

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletics Department and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Hawkeye Sports Properties, announced Riverside Casino & Golf Resort’s extension as presenting sponsor of the 2024-25 Iowa women’s wrestling season.

The Hawkeyes, led by Head Coach Clarissa Chun, will host their first event of the season on November 16 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa became the first Power Five institution to support women’s wrestling as a varsity sport, when it was announced in September 2021.

“We are so thankful that Riverside Casino & Golf Resort has decided to continue as the presenting sponsor of our season,” said Chun. “We appreciate that they value women’s wrestling and we look forward to a great season.”

With the recent undeniable growth and visibility for women’s sports, and wrestling continuing to rise in popularity at the high school and college levels, Riverside Casino & Golf Resort is proud to support women’s athletics.

“Our company strives to be closely connected to the community we serve. Hawkeye Nation is a major part of our community, and we are excited about supporting the women’s wrestling program. Wrestling has deep roots in Iowa, just like our company which makes a great fit, said Riverside Casino & Golf Resort General Manager Damon John. “Our customers are passionate about the Black and Gold, and any avenue to support new opportunities for women’s athletics is something that Riverside Casino & Golf Resort can get behind!”

Riverside Casino & Golf Resort has been a longtime corporate supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Its sponsorship of the women’s wrestling program specifically will provide for visibility via in-arena signage, digital presence on the dedicated women’s wrestling page on HawkeyeSports.com, as well as sponsorship of the Women’s Wrestling Update on radio during men’s wrestling broadcasts.

“We are very appreciative of Riverside Casino & Golf Resort’s continued support of Hawkeye women’s wrestling.  The first season of the program as a varsity sport was full of excitement and we anticipate continued success from Clarissa’s team this winter,” said Beth Goetz, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair.
