4 Hawkeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors

Four University of Iowa soccer student-athletes earned All-Big Ten honors the conference announced on Friday.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Four University of Iowa soccer student-athletes earned All-Big Ten honors the conference announced on Friday.

Graduate student Maggie Johnston and sophomore Millie Greer were both named second-team All-Big Ten. Johnston earned the award as a midfielder. The Coronoa, Calif. Native has two goals on the season to go along with an assist. Greer, a defender for the Hawkeyes, has played a huge role in the Iowa defense being one of the top defenses in the country. The Hawkeyes have allowed just 10 goals on the season for a goals allowed average of .556. Iowa’s goals allowed average ranks sixth among power-four conference teams. Greer has a goal on the season to go along with an assist.

Sophomore Sofia Bush earned third-team honors as a midfielder. Bush is tied for second on the Hawkeyes with five goals on the season to go along with four assists. This is Bush’s second straight year earning All-Big Ten honors after being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team last season. The Marion, Iowa native was featured in Top Drawer Soccer’s Midseason Top 100 players coming in at No. 17 on the list.

Freshman Berit Parten was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. Parten, a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, leads Iowa offensively in goals (7), points (17), shots (46), shots on goal (22), and game winning goals (3). Parten was the third Hawkeye in program history to win Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice. Parten came in at No. 26 on Top Drawer Soccer’s Midseason Top 100 Freshman.

Senior Miah Schueller was named Iowa’s sportsmanship award honoree. Schueller is one of five Hawkeyes to start in every game this season. Schueller has also played a significant role in the Hawkeye’s defensive effort so far this season.
