GymHawks Sign 4 for 2025

University of Iowa gymnastics head coach Jen Llewellyn announced the signing of Maggie Ball, Daisy Bowles, Stella DePaola and Sophie Schriever for 2025.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa gymnastics head coach Jen Llewellyn announced the signing of Maggie Ball, Daisy Bowles, Stella DePaola and Sophie Schriever for 2025.

“This 2025 recruiting class is one that we are thrilled about!” said Coach Llewellyn. “Each of them have tremendous character, talent and a drive to bring excellence in everything they do. The four of them will be expected to add immediate depth in all four events.”

Maggie Ball
Norman, Oklahoma | Norman North High School | Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy

  • 2024 Shannon Miller Award winner
  • 2024 Oklahoma State champion on vault, bars and all-around
  • Finished third on floor and fourth on beam at 2024 Oklahoma state championships
  • 2024 Region 3 Champion on vault, beam and all-around
  • Finished second on bars and fourth on floor at the 2024 Region 3 Championships
  • 2024 National champion on beam scoring a 9.700
  • Finished fifth in the all-around, 13th on vault and floor and 14th on bars at 2024 National Championships

“Maggie comes to Iowa City boasting a powerful vault and an artistic flare to the balance beam and floor that will be sure to catch the attention of everyone in the arena. Her abilities in the all-around continue to impress and we cannot wait for her to step onto campus and help drive our program towards championship level goals. Jen Llewellyn on Daisy Bowles

Daisy brings a poised confidence to her gymnastics, boasting a show stopping uneven bar routine that is sure to make a tremendous impact on day one, combined with impressive history of success in the all-around during her DP career. Her tremendous character mixed with athletic abilities will be invaluable for the future! We are thrilled to have Daisy join us here in Iowa City to continue the storied traditions of Hawkeye Gymnastics.”

“Stella brings a wow factor beam routine that is sure to turn heads right away. In addition to the beam, Stella will provide consistency and steadiness to the uneven bars, floor, and vault apparatuses. Stella is a performer and will bring a fun and exciting flare to her routines. We are so excited that Stella will be joining our Hawkeye Family and we look forward to what she will bring to this team not only as a gymnast, but as a person over these next four years.”

Jen Llewellyn on Sophie Schriever

“Sophie’s impact will be felt right away as she brings to campus a massive vault, dynamic bar routine, consistent beam work, and a unique floor routine that will prove to be a staple for our program for the foreseeable future. Sophie brings a competitive drive in everything she does that makes her gymnastics fun to watch. Her lighthearted approach to the sport combined with her impressive athletic abilities will not only drive our gymnastics, but our culture as well. We expect big things from Sophie in the all-around as a freshman and we could not be happier that she chose Iowa to be her home for the next four years!”
