CORALVILLE, Iowa — Ten University of Iowa wrestlers advanced to the semifinals at the Soldier Salute on Sunday evening at Xtream Arena.
The Hawkeyes have multiple semifinalists at 133 and 184 in Drake Ayala, Kael Petersen, Angelo Ferrari and Gabe Arnold.
Seven Hawkeyes used bonus points to advance through the quarterfinal round. Petersen had a come from behind pin in the third period and Michael Caliendo also won via a fall. Kyle Parco, Patrick Kennedy and Stephen Buchanan each recorded a technical fall and Ferrari and Arnold both won via major decision.
Iowa is in first in the team race with 111 points followed by Minnesota with 69 and Iowa State with 68.5.
The Solider Salute concludes on Monday, beginning with Session III starting at 11 a.m. (CT). The action will be streamed live on B1G+.
