CORALVILLE, Iowa — Nine University of Iowa wrestlers advanced to the finals at the Soldier Salute on Monday afternoon at Xtream Arena.
Four Hawkeyes earned bonus points in the semifinals, including Drake Ayala, Michael Caliendo, Patrick Kennedy, and Angelo Ferrrari.
Ayala and Kale Petersen are matched up in the 133-pound finals while Angelo Ferrari and Gabe Arnold are matched up in the 184-pound finals.
A pair of Hawkeyes defeated ranked opponents during Session III. Kyle Parco defeated No. 22 Gabe Willochell of Wyoming and Kennedy downed #19 Josh Ogunsayna of North Carolina.
Jace Rhodes will wrestle for third. Joey Cruz and Cullan Schriever will wrestle for fifth at 125 and 141 pounds respectively.
The Solider Salute concludes with Session IV, starting at 5 p.m. (CT). The action will be streamed live on B1G+.
