ORLANDO, FLA. – The Hawkeyes finished up their first scrimmage of the spring season against UCF on Lake Pickett Saturday afternoon.
The invite consisted of four varsity boats, two eights and two fours, training at controlled stroke rates. Friday afternoon featured 2,000-meter pieces and Saturday showcased multiple races at different rates. With the first race jitters gone, the team looks to continue to hone in on their skills for the upcoming invites.
HEAR FROM HEAD COACH JEFF GARBUTT
"This was a great weekend for our team to get in lots of strokes on the water and prep for the racing season. Friday held spirited competition between us and UCF, a little weather delay Saturday allowed us to only get a few thousand-meter pieces in. This training trip is a great learning opportunity for the team and what we need to sharpen before heading into competition. It gives the girls guidance on how to handle ourselves in practice to be our best when racing.”
