IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team will host St. Thomas, for its first midweek nonconference matchup on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawkeyes will play a doubleheader with games at 3pm and 5pm CT.
The Hawkeyes enter the contest with a 14-8 record and the Tommies come into the contest with a 14-7 record. St. Thomas enters the matchup on a nine-game winning streak and Iowa comes in dropping its last three games. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
As a team, St. Thomas is hitting .310 and its pitching staff has a 3.90 ERA. They are led by Senior Ella Cook with a .400 batting average, 24 hits and 17 RBIs. The Tommies use three arms interchangeably in the circle. Senior Christina Crawford has the most starts with eight, and holds a 3.95 ERA with a 3-2 record.
Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .277 as a team. The Iowa pitching staff has a 3.52 ERA. Senior Hannah Lindsay leads the team with a .345 batting average and 21 RBIs. Sophomore Soo-Jin Berry leads the team with four home runs followed by Lindsay's three. Junior Jalen Adams has thrown 73.2 innings for the Hawkeyes and has a 1.05 ERA, second in the Big Ten and 14th nationally.
