Hawkeyes Finish 2 Rounds at Colleton River Collegiate

The Iowa men’s golf team wrapped up two rounds of play at the Colleton River Collegiate on Sunday.

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team wrapped up two rounds of play at the Colleton River Collegiate on Sunday. The Hawkeyes finished the day in eighth place, 18 over par as a team.

Sophomore Max Tjoa led the Hawkeyes, sitting in 12th place after carding a two-over-par 146 through two rounds. He opened the tournament with a one-under-par first round, highlighted by three birdies. In the second round, Tjoa shot three-over to finish the day at two-over overall.

Junior Gage Messingham also secured a top-20 spot, tying for 15th with a three-over-par 147. After shooting two over par in the first round, he bounced back in the second round with five birdies, including four on the front nine, to finish one over par.

Freshman Chance Rinkol followed, ending the day in 31st place at six-over-par 150. He started strong with an even-par first round, recording three birdies and an eagle, then shot six-over in the second round.

Senior Ian Meyer posted a 13-over-par 157, closing the second round with a one-over score that featured four birdies on the front nine and one on the back. Graduate Student Josh Lundmark rounded out Iowa’s lineup with a 14-over-par 158. He tallied seven birdies on the day, five of which came in the second round.

Iowa remains ahead of Big Ten competitor’s Rutgers, Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota along with Iowa State, Memphis, Cincinnati, and Georgia Southern.

"We had a bit rough start this morning but the guys fought back and posted a solid round. We lost some ground this afternoon but we have an opportunity to move up tomorrow with a good performance. We need all five guys in the round from start to finish."
