IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa gymnastics team will continue its postseason in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for NCAA Regionals.

The Hawkeyes were selected for the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional on Monday morning during the 2025 NCAA Selection Show. The GymHawks will compete on Friday April 4 at 1 p.m. CT inside of Coleman Coliseum on the campus of the University of Alabama.

Iowa will compete against No. 6 Cal, No. 11 Alabama and North Carolina in session I. Session II in Alabama features No. 3 Florida, No. 14 Oregon State and NC State. The final spot in session II will be decided in a play-in meet between Clemson and Rutgers.

The top two teams in each of the sessions will advance to the regional final on Sunday April 6. The top two teams, the top all-around competitors, and the top event specialist on each event, who are not on an advancing team, from each regional will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships on April 17 and 19 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The GymHawks are one of 36 teams to qualify for the NCAA Regional competition at one of four different sites. To qualify, teams must have a top-36 national qualifying score (NQS). Iowa’s current NQS of 196.430 ranks 23rd in the latest Road to Nationals poll.

This is the GymHawks 25th straight season with an NCAA Regional appearance (as a team and/or individuals), and first under head coach Jen Llewellyn.

Iowa finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships this past weekend with a score of 196.775. Freshman Aurélie Tran and senior Haley Tyson were named to the all-championship team on bars and floor, respectively. Tran earned first team all-Big Ten and all-freshman honors as well.
