IOWA CITY, Iowa - University of Iowa diving qualified four student-athletes to the NCAA Zone Diving competition hosted at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa, on March 10-12. A livestream will be available for all three days.
Stephanie Avram, Makayla Hughbanks, Geneva Pauly, and Lainey Woodward are ready to represent the Hawkeyes with their qualifying scores from the season, as Iowa hosts this year's Zone D Diving Championships. Freshman Stephanie Avram and junior Geneva Pauly will compete in the platform dive. All three upperclassmen will compete in the one-meter, and Hughbanks and Pauly will lead Iowa in the three-meter.
Hughbanks returns for her fourth consecutive year at the championships, currently leading the team in both the one- and three-meter dives, hoping to continue with this momentum.
The top 18 divers of the competition move on from the preliminaries to the finals. In the one-meter dive, the top 11 qualify for the NCAA meet. The top ten divers in the three-meter and the top nine platform dives will advance out of Zone D to the NCAA meet.
