IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa women’s tennis team fell to No. 4 Michigan, 4-0, on Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
In doubles play, Michigan (9-3, 4-0) claimed victories by the score of 6-3 on both courts one and three. At No. 1, No. 27 Jessica Bernales and Piper Charney defeated Iowa's Tereza Dejnozkova and Nikita Vishwase. At No. 3, Bayley Sheinin and Emily Sartz-Lunde upended Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt.
The match on court two between Iowa’s Daianne Hayashida and Marisa Schmidt and Michigan’s No. 48 Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller went unfinished, with Michigan leading 5-4.
In singles, the Wolverines earned three straight-set victories. No. 80 Miller defeated Vishwase, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6, while No. 31 Lily Jones claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Schmidt at No. 3. No. 25 Charney clinched Michigan’s win with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hayashida at No. 2.
The three remaining singles matches were closely contested but left unfinished. On court one, No. 2 Fliegner was ahead of No. 84 Dejnozkova, 3-6, 4-5. At No. 4, Pokorna led No. 96 Sartz-Lunde, 6-4, 5-2. On court five, Kranholdt was rallying against Bernles (0-6, 6-6).

We’re making progress, we just have to continue to improve.
