Hawkeyes to Host Western Illinois and St. Thomas

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes Western Illinois to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday before hosting St. Thomas on Wednesday. Both games are at 6:02 p.m. (CDT), and admission is $5.

The Hawkeyes enter the week with a 27-11 record. The Leathernecks sit at 11-24 overall, while the Tommies are 19-14.

As a team, Western Illinois is hitting .287, and its pitching staff has a 7.49 ERA. They are led by Liam Bushey, who is hitting .393 with 70 total bases. Tyler Large leads the team with 28 RBIs and is tied for the most home runs with four.

St. Thomas has a .303 team batting average and a 6.47 ERA. Joe Vos leads the Tommies with a .353 batting average, 71 total bases and six home runs. Joe Roder leads the team with 12 doubles and 38 RBIs.

Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .310, and the pitching staff has a 3.65 ERA, leading the Big Ten in both categories. 

Gable Mitchell leads the team with a .351 batting average. Miles Risley leads the team with 39 RBIs followed by Reese Moore with 38. Moore has a team-high nine home runs and 86 total bases.
