The University of Iowa women’s golf team will host the Diane Thomason Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29–30, at Finkbine Golf Course (par 72, 6,437 yards). The 54-hole tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes junior Maura Peters, junior Ximena Benites, senior Shannyn Vogler, senior Riley Lewis, and freshman Sunny Wang. Seniors Kaitlyn Hanna and Adie Maki will compete as individuals, along with sophomore Lily Huether and freshman Cailyn Rogers.
THE FIELD
The 16-team field includes: Bowling Green, Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Iowa, Missouri State, Montana State, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, St. Thomas and Western Michigan.
THE COURSE
Finkbine Golf Course spans more than 200 acres of rolling Iowa terrain. It features bentgrass greens, tree-lined fairways and more than 50 sand traps. The course, operated by Troon, is owned by the University of Iowa Athletics Department and is named after W.O. Finkbine.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Hawkeyes are coming off a championship performance in last year’s Diane Thomason Invitational, where they claimed the team title with a 906 total (288-299-319). Led by Paula Miranda, who paced Iowa with a co-runner-up finish at 222 (72-71-79), the Hawkeyes placed five golfers inside the top 20.
Iowa also won the event in 2018, finishing with a team score of 898 (299-299-300) — 22 shots ahead of second-place North Dakota State. That year, the Hawkeyes had five players finish in the top 10, led by Shawn Rennegarbe, who earned medalist honors with a 5-over-par 221.
LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished sixth at the Badger Invitational with a 54-hole total of 882 (295-288-299). Junior Maura Peters led the team, securing a ninth-place finish with a score of 215.
OF NOTE…
• Senior Adie Maki and sophomore Lily Huether will make their season debuts at the Diane Thomason Invitational, while freshman Cailyn Rogers will make her Hawkeye debut.
• Junior Maura Peters led the team at the Badger Invitational, securing a ninth-place finish – the best finish of her career after finishing with a 54-hole total of 215 (74-69-72)
• Senior Riley Lewis recorded a season-best duirng the Badger Invitational with a 54-hole total of 221 (73-72-76), finishing tied for 19th place.
• Juniors Ximena Benites and Maura Peters have each had all six of their rounds count toward the team score this fall. Both are averaging a team-best 73.83 scoring average through two events.

The Hawkeyes return to action Oct. 6–7 at the Prairie Dunes Invitational in Hutchinson, Kansas.
