The No. 10 University of Iowa women’s soccer team hosts Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. (CT). The match will take place at the Iowa Soccer Complex.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
- Michigan comes into the match with a 5-6-1 overall record and 2-2-1 Big Ten conference record. The Wolverines come into the match with a two-game winning streak, after picking up wins at Nebraska and vs. Minnesota.
- The Wolverines were picked to finish 13th in the Big ten preseason poll. Their three players on the players to watch list were, sophomore Ellie Fife (D), junior Gabrielle Prych (F), and senior Sophie Homan (GK).
- Michigan is 2-3-1 when playing on the road. They are 0-2-1 on the season against ranked opponents.
- The Wolverines are led by Elle Ervin and Gabrielle Prych with five goals apiece on the season. Ervin leads the team with 31 shots on the season putting 17 on goal.
- Of their 14 goals on the season, nine have come in the second half. They are being outscored, 16-14 on the season.
- Adi Walick leads Michigan with six assists on the season. Her .50 assists per game averages ranks second in the Big Ten and 36th nationally. Her six total assists rank 20th nationally.
- Goalkeeper Sophie Homan has appeared in all 12 games for the Wolverines. Homan has allowed 14 goals on the season while posting 48 saves. Her 48 saves rank third amongst Big Ten goalkeepers.
SERIES HISTORY - MICHIGAN
- Michigan leads the all-time series, 17-4-6.
- The last three matches between the two teams have resulted in a tie. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 19, 2023 when Iowa drew with Michigan, 1-1, on the road.
- The last time the Hawkeyes fell to the Wolverines was Sept. 16, 2016, in Iowa City.
- Head coach Dave DiIanni is 1-1-6 in his tenure against Michigan. The first time the two teams met was Oct. 19, 1997, with No. 12 Michigan defeating the Hawkeyes, 4-0.
- Michigan is 8-3-2 all time when playing in Iowa City. In DiIanni’s tenure they are 1-1-2 when playing in Iowa City.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Sofia Bush, Millie Greer, and Liana Tarasco were named Big Ten Players to Watch. The Hawkeyes were picked sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll. Bush was also named a midfielder to watch by Top Drawer Soccer.
- Iowa is filled with veteran leadership, rostering eight graduate students and three seniors.
- Meike Ingles (lower leg injury), Eva Pattison (redshirt), and Abby Warner (redshirt) will be out for the rest of the 2025 season.
- Iowa’s No. 13 preseason ranking was the highest preseason ranking in program history. It also marked just the second time Iowa earned a preseason ranking.
- The Hawkeyes No. 7 ranking in Top Drawer Soccer’s poll earlier this season marked the highest ranking in program history.
- The Hawkeyes graduated the program’s all-time winningest goalkeeper in Macy Enneking. Enneking defended the goal for Iowa in each of the last three seasons.
- Kenzie Roling, Greer, and Bush were voted team captains.
THE DIIANNI FILE
- DiIanni signed a contract extension on Feb. 27, 2025, that extended the programs all-time winningest coach through 2029.
- DiIanni is 3-2 in his Iowa career against opponents ranked sixth or higher. Before his arrival, Iowa was 0-7 in those games and was outscored, 29-4.
- Entering this season, DiIanni is the second active winningest D1 coach in the country by percentage, with a win percentage of .753. He only trails Paul Ratcliffe of Stanford at .784.
- DiIanni entered 2025 with the 19th most wins amongst active D1 coaches.
- DiIanni is the 41st winningest coach of all-time based of win percentage. He is the sixth winningest D1 coach of all-time.
- DiIanni has won all four NCAA Tournament matches in program history.

- After hosting six home games at the Iowa Soccer Complex, Iowa’s average attendance of 2,064 fans ranks fifth in the country and first in the Big Ten.
- Iowa’s home match against TCU marked a program regular season crowd attendance record with 2,382 fans.
- The year prior to DiIanni’s arrival, in 2013, the Hawkeyes averaged an attendance of 522 fans per game.
QUICK HITTERS
- Graduate student Price Loposer’s 90 games played in her career are tied for the second most games played amongst active players. She only tails Lia Godfrey of Virginia with 95 games played.
- Greer has played and started in every game. She has also played the full 90 minutes in 11 of 12 matches. She leads the team with 1,027 minutes on the season.
- Taylor Kane is 17 -2 in her collegiate career as the starting goalkeeper.
- Iowa ranks first in the Big Ten in shots on goal per game (7.33).
- The Hawkeyes third in the conference in saves per game (2.33), shot accuracy (.471), shots per game (15.58), total goals (23), total points (70), and win percentage (.750).

INSTANT IMPACT10 newcomers have seen action this season for the Hawkeyes.- Of the 23 goals scored on the season, 10 have come from newcomers. Freshman Liana Tarasco’s three goals on the season are second on the Hawkeyes. - Freshman Elle Wildman leads Iowa with 28 shots on the season.- Of the 24 assists on the season, 12 have come from newcomers. Wildman co-leads the team with four assists.
ROSTER MAKEUP Iowa rosters five international players including four Canadians.- The Hawkeyes have six players on their roster from Michigan, making it the most popular state amongst Hawkeyes. - Five in-state players are on the Iowa roster. - Other states include Illinois (3), Minnesota (2), Florida (2), Arizona (1), California (1), New Jersey (1), Texas (1), Utah (1), Indiana (1), and Mississippi (1).- The roster includes eight graduate students, three seniors, five juniors, 5 sophomores, and nine freshmen.
