Hawkeyes Conclude Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Michigan Invitational on Sunday, adding two more victories.

In singles play, sophomore Emma Tothová earned her third win of the weekend, defeating Northwestern’s Mika Dugan Fruchtman, 6-1, 6-4. Pia Kranholdt fell to Margot Phanthala of Northwestern, 6-3, 6-1, while Nikita Vishwase was edged by Erica Jessel of Northwestern, 6-2, 6-1. Eline Bex was defeated by Reese Miller of Michigan, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, the Hawkeyes faced off against opponents from Michigan. Kranholdt and Sally Xu notched a 6-1 victory over Ava Bruno and Laura Maser, while Vishwase and Bex came up short, 6-2, against Piper Charney and Bayley Sheinin.

The Hawkeyes will return to action at the ITA Central Regionals in Norman, Oklahoma, from Oct. 16-20.
