STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA - The 11th-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team fell to Penn State in double overtime, 1-0, on Friday evening at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.
Both teams were scoreless through the first half.
The Hawkeyes had three penalty corner opportunities in the fourth period, one inserted by Niamh de Jong and the other two from Felicia Zonnenburg. The shots came close but failed to capitalize, continuing a scoreless game from both teams to the end of regulation.
Neither team was able to score in the first overtime. The Nittany Lions scored at 74:30 in the second overtime to secure their win.
The Hawkeyes outshot Penn State 15-to-11 and had four penalty corners to the Nittany Lions five. Mia Magnotta had six saves for Iowa.
