Hawkeyes Complete Day 2 at ITA Sectional Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team continued competition at the ITA Sectional Championships on Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Senior Daianne Hayashida battled to a hard-fought victory over Yekaterina Dmitrichenko of Texas Tech, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, in the Round of 16. With the win, Hayashida advances to the quarterfinals.

In doubles consolation play, Tereza Dejnozkova and Hayashida faced Tess Bucher and Alice Xu of Illinois. The Hawkeyes pushed a tiebreaker but fell, 6-2, 4-6 (10-3).

Hayashida will return to action tomorrow with singles quarterfinal play beginning at 1 p.m. (CT).
