BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The ninth-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team fell to No. 2 Northwestern, 3-0, in the Big Ten Championship game on Sunday afternoon.
The first quarter was scoreless, with Northwestern tallying four early shots. Iowa goalkeeper Mia Magnotta made two saves to keep the Wildcats off the board.
Both teams remained scoreless through the first half.
Northwestern broke through in the 30th minute and added two more goals in the fourth quarter, keeping the Hawkeyes’ offense quiet.
The Wildcats outshot Iowa, 16-3, and held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.

- This was Iowa’s 13th appearance in the Big Ten Championship game and its first since 2019.
- Magnotta finished with six saves.
