AMES, Iowa - No. 10 Iowa State (11-0, 0-0) defeated No. 11 Iowa (9-1, 1-0) on Wednesday night in Hilton Coliseum, 74-69.

Sophomore Chit-Chat Wright led the scoring for Iowa with a career-high 21 points and three assists. Wright went 4-for-8 on three-point baskets and shot 54 percent on the day.  

In the first quarter, Wright led the Iowa scoring with seven points. Senior Kylie Feuerbach was right behind with five points, drilling a last second three-point basket to put the Hawkeyes up, 23-19 at the end of the first 10 minutes. 

The second quarter was a defensive contest from both sides. Iowa was held from scoring for the first seven minutes of play despite seven collective rebounds and three blocks in that time. After going down 33-26, the Hawkeyes went on a 9-2 run to close out the quarter tied 35-35. 

The Cyclone’s took a strong 6-0 run out of halftime to push ahead of the Hawkeyes. Senior Taylor McCabe got the scoring started for Iowa with her second three-point basket of the day to cut the deficit down to three. McCabe led Iowa with six third quarter points whole also dishing out one assist and one rebound. After 30 minutes, Iowa trailed Iowa State, 61-48.  

Four Hawkeyes persevered for the team in the fourth quarter while Iowa State hung on. Senior Hannah Stuelke tallied six points, as did Wright with two more three-point baskets, giving her four on the day. The Hawkeyes came back from a 17-point deficit going on a 14-4 run in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter. The Cyclones were able to shut the door on Iowa in the last few minutes handing them their first loss of the season.  

The Hawkeyes shot 27-of-63 (42.9 percent) from the field and 9-of-24 (37.5 percent) from deep. Iowa shot 6-of-12 (50 percent) from the charity stipe. Iowa was outrebounded, 39-32. a

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Chit-Chat Wright led Iowa with a career-high 21 points.
- It was Wright’s first career 20+ point performance of her career. 
- Hannah Stuelke grabbed 15 rebounds and added 10 points for her second double-double of the season. 
- Stuelke’s 15 rebounds were the most by an Iowa player against Iowa State since Amanda Ollinger on Dec. 11, 2019. 
- Taylor McCabe had 11 points (3-8 3FG), five rebounds, and three assists. 
- It was McCabe’s sixth game in double figures including five straight. 
- Kylie Feuerbach reached double figures for the second time this season with 10 points and three assists. 
- Ava Heiden had eight points, two assists, and two rebounds before fouling out with 4:18 to go in the fourth quarter. 

TEAM NOTES
- 10 out of the last 11 meetings have been decided by 10 points or less. 
- Iowa State led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter.
