IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team was named the National Team of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.
P. Sue Beckwith, MD, head women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen the Hawkeyes to three wins over AP Top 15 opponents in three consecutive regular season games for the first time in program history. Iowa beat No. 15 Michigan State, No. 15 Maryland, and No. 12 Ohio State in a Sunday-to-Sunday stretch last week.
The Hawkeyes also earned a spot inside the AP Top 10 for the first time since 2023-24 last week. When the AP Poll came out on Monday, Jensen’s Hawkeyes were tabbed eighth nationally, which is the highest ranking since the Lisa Bluder and Caitlin Clark era.
The Hawkeyes hit the road to take on Southern California on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. (CT) in Los Angeles. The contest will air on Peacock and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
