Hawkeyes Sweep Iowa State, 7-0

AMES, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team swept Iowa State last, 7-0, in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Sunday afternoon at the McKee Indoor Tennis Complex.

The Hawkeyes opened the match by securing the double point. On court two, Julia Camblor and Gabriella Kellner defeated Tereza Dejnozkova and Nikita Vishwase. At No. 3, Pia Kranholdt and Sally Xu edged Ashlee Narker and Valeska San Martin Ramirez, 7-6(7-4). In the deciding match on court one, No. 41 Daianne Hayashida and Mia Mack defeated No. 51 Mari Alberto Vilar and Stanisla Shulzhenko in a 7-6(7-5) thriller.

In singles play, Dejnozkova made quick work of Shulzhenko with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. No. 101 Mack extended the Hawkeyes’ lead to three with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 58 Alberto Vilar on court one. Vishwase clinched the match with a 7-6(7-5), 6-1 win over Pretorius on court six.

On court five, Kranholdt added a 6-4, 7-6(7-2) victory over Dale. Hayashida followed with a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0(12-10) win over Narker. In the final match of the day, Tothová defeated Camblor, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-3)
