SARASOTA, Fla. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished 13th at the Spartan Sun Coast Collegiate at Palm Aire Country Club.
The Hawkeyes opened the tournament with rounds of 306 and 325 for a 36-hole total of 631. Iowa fired a final-round 293 to finish with a 924 (306-325-293), maintaining its position in the standings in the 15-team field.
Senior Riley Lewis led the Hawkeyes, tying for 23rd with a 225 (74-78-73). She recorded 10 birdies over the first two rounds and added three birdies and 11 pars in the final round to finish with a 1-over-par (73), moving up one spot in the standings.
Junior Ximena Benites finished tied for 34th with a 229 (77-79-73). She carded 12 pars in the opening round and 10 in the second round before closing with a 1-under-par (73), recording three birdies and 10 pars to move up eight spots on the final day.
Junior Maura Peters posted a 234 (78-84-72) to tie for 64th. After rounds of 78 and 84, Peters paced Iowa in the final round with an even-par (72), tallying five birdies and seven pars.
Northwestern University won the team title with an 884 (294-306-284). Dianna Lee earned medalist honors with a 4-under-par (212).
