Heiden Named to Naismith Late-Season List

Center Ava Heiden was named to the Naismith Trophy Late-Season List.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa center Ava Heiden was named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Tuesday.

Presented annually to the most outstanding women’s basketball player who achieves tremendous on-court success. Jersey Mike’s is proud to partner with the Naismith Awards in recognizing the outstanding efforts of collegiate athletes and coaches, rewarding their drive and achievements on the court.

Heiden averages 16.8 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 64 percent from the floor. Her field goal percentage ranks fifth nationally and second in the conference.

The Sherwood, Oregon, native registered her sixth career double-double in the Hawkeyes win over Nebraska on Sunday. Heiden went 12-of-15 from the field, tying her career-high with 27 points and adding 11 rebounds.

She has reached double figures in 13 straight games and against all 13 Big Ten opponents played this season. Heiden also leads Iowa with eight 20+ point performances this season.

Heiden was also named the Lisa Leslie Top 10 List earlier this month.

Heiden and the nationally ranked Hawkeyes will travel to Purdue on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. (CT) in West Lafayette. The game will air on B1G+ and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
