No. 18 GymHawks Finish Second at Big Four Meet

The No. 18 University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished second at the Big Four Meet with a score of 196.475 on Friday night inside Pauley Pavilion.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 18 University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished second at the Big Four Meet with a score of 196.475 on Friday night inside Pauley Pavilion. The Hawkeyes closed the Big Ten regular season 6-3.  

No. 5 UCLA (196.950) took first place, No. 19 OSU (196.425) secured third and No. 25 Maryland (195.025) rounded out the standings.

Sophomore Aurélie Tran earned a share of the bars title with a 9.900. Fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson tied for second on floor with a 9.900, and sophomore Sydney Turner delivered a 9.875 on beam to take third.

Two GymHawks rounded out the top three in the all-around. Schriever clinched second with a 39.300, followed by Tran’s 39.275 for third.

FLOOR
The Hawkeyes began the evening on floor, tallying a 49.225. Henderson led the Hawkeyes with a 9.900. Schriever scored a 9.875, while fifth-year Haley Tyson matched her season best with a 9.850. Senior Hanna Castillo and Tran posted a pair of 9.800s to round out the lineup. Iowa ended the first rotation in second, trailing UCLA by 0.075.

VAULT
Iowa scored a 49.075 on vault in the second rotation. Schriever and Tran paced the Hawkeyes with 9.850s. Turner added a 9.825, followed by freshman Stella DePaola, who matched her career high with a 9.800. Senior Gianna Masella and Henderson each contributed 9.750s. 

At the halfway point, Iowa remained in second, trailing UCLA, 98.500-98.300. Schriever and UCLA’s Jordan Chiles were tied for first in the all-around with 19.725.

BARS
The GymHawks recorded a 49.250 on bars to bring their three-event total to 147.550. In the anchor position, Tran posted a 9.900. Freshman Daisy Bowles scored a 9.875, while Masella added a 9.850. Turner and Schriever contributed scores of 9.825 and 9.875, respectively, to complete the rotation.

BEAM
Iowa concluded the competition on beam, posting a 48.925. Turner led the lineup with a 9.875. Fifth-year Marissa Rojas, freshman Maggie Ball and Schriever followed with matching 9.775s. Tran closed out her all-around performance with a 9.725.
