Heiden Tabbed to Lisa Leslie Top 10 List

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa center Ava Heiden was named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Top 10 Mid-Season list on Friday.

The Basketball Hall of Fame’s Naismith Starting 5 committee, in collaboration with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association recognize the centers in women’s college basketball each year.

Heiden averages 16.7 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 63 percent from the floor. Her field goal percentage ranks sixth nationally and second in the conference. Heiden also leads Iowa with six 20+ point performances this season.

Fans can support their favorite players in the remaining rounds by participating in Fan Voting starting Friday, February 6 on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one vote during the final selection process.

The final 5 candidates for the award will be released to the public on a day-by-day basis starting the week of March 16, with voting set to follow on March 20. The list is fluid throughout the whole process and players have the ability to play themselves on or off our list until the winner is finally selected. The winner of this award, as well as presentation details, will be announced towards the end of the season.
