Pauly Places 13th On Platform

University of Iowa diver Geneva Pauly placed 13th in the platform dive at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Student Recreation Natatorium on Wednesday afternoon.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Iowa diver Geneva Pauly placed 13th in the platform dive at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Student Recreation Natatorium on Wednesday afternoon.

Pauly advanced to the finals after finishing in 10th with 244.60 points. She averaged a score of 48.92 in the preliminary round.

“We came up a little short today, but I am proud of the girls and how hard they fought. All in all we made some huge strides this season and our future is bright.” diving coach Todd Waikel said.

In the finals session, Pauly tallied a total of 474.20 points to place 13th overall. She posted a score of 54.40 in the finals. The senior from Arvada, Colorado, finishes her career as a four-time qualifier to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.

Freshman Zita Bernatsky wrapped up her zone diving debut with a 20th-place finish and 217.60 points. Sophomore Stephanie Avram was 21st with a score of 215.60.
